So last Thursday I was in a rush to do anything to my hair before I attended a seminar on how to get your business to work with the government. That information will be shared on my Examiner column. Anyway, me not being the hair girl, had to do something quick and I could actually do by myself. So I did two strand twist. It wasn’t the best turn out but they came out good considering I did them myself. Here is the routine I used for my hair:

  • I put Coconut vinegar on my hair. {I have stated numerous times I have dandruff and found products with pure coconut to work for me.} Anyway, I let it sit on my hair for 2 whole hours. I put a generous amount on my hair and then rub it into my scalp. I bought that product from Whole Foods.
  • After the two hours were up, I rinsed it out with lukewarm water. I used a harsh, stringent dandruff shampoo (Sulfur 8) to make sure my scalp was clean. I only used a small amount in the palm of my hand and once.
  • Then I immediately washed my hair yet again with Curly Beautiful (Whole Foods). This shampoo I mentioned before is the first shampoo to automatically curl my hair. I used this shampoo after the dandruff shampoo to add moisture back into my hair and the minerals and coconut oil in it seems to bring life to my hair.
  • I used Curly Beautiful leave-in conditioner. I’m getting used to leave-in conditioner. In fact, I’m starting to like how it makes my hair feel. I ♥ my soft curls.

    Side profile. Yep my hair was trying to shrink on my before I even got started.

  • Now once all that was done ( about 2 1/2 hours) I put in a little of Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding. And then I remembered to take a picture since I didn’t have any to post the last time. So I was looking a mess by this point. Took the picture anyway. Then Carmen Jones (the original) was on Netflix. Well I needed something to do while I was twisting my hair.

    Looking rough. But my hair is clean and I applied some of Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding.

  • I began to section my hair into small sections using a wide tooth comb. I used Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding on my scalp between each part. Just a little bit. Enough to moisturize but not too much that if felt like I would need to wipe some off. By this time in the movie Carmen was up to no good and the singing was getting good. And Harry Belafonte was nice to look at in his Military uniform as Joe.
  • Back to my hair. I have thick hair, super thick hair, so I had to make sure my sections was small so my hair would actually twist. Halfway through I took a picture of my progress. And Carmen was up to no good. She just messed up that relationship for good with Sue Ellen and Joe. Or so I thought.
  • I continued working on my hair. I was getting tired of twisting so I noticed my sections were becoming a little bit bigger. The bigger my sections were getting the more mischief Carmen was getting herself into.
  • Finally to the crown of my hair. I could see the end. I kept twisting away making sure I put the Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding between each section. As I was sectioning my hair, I just stopped to feel the curls in my hair. I really do love the way my curls feel. They are so soft like cotton and curly like a coil. Who doesn’t love hair like that? Enough with my hair affair.

    Do you see these curls? I tried to so a close up on how ultra curly my hair really is.

  • I was getting to the end of twisting my hair and the end of the movie. Joe completely caught me off guard by the way he acted after he allowed Carmen to suck him into her wild antics.
  • Just as I was twisting my last twist, Joe did the unexpectant and that was the end of the movie and me twisting my hair. I don’t want to spoil the movie and say too much but it was a wonderful movie with great songs and a young Diahann Carroll and Pearl Bailey. I just love musicals. It was 10x better than Carmen a Hip-Opera with Beyoncé. Let’s be real about that.

    Finished. My twists are longer than I thought they would be.

So that is what I was able to do in 4 hours. Is it the best? eh. It’ll do for me but I want you to know that you have to learn to find products that works for your hair. One week later as I am writing this post, again Miss Jessie’s did not flake up my hair. I guess I really found a product line that works for me. It only took 9.5 years but who’s counting?

{We were given a product to review. That did not influence what was written in this post. If you have a question about our disclosure policy, click here.}

I love my natural hair and for those of you who ask me questions, it does not bother me. I will share what I know but these ladies have more passion and knowledge than I do about natural hair. Check out their Youtube Channels:
