So Wednesday I had the esteem pleasure of being a VIP guest along with Kena Shaw of chocolateisnatural at the Stephen F. Austin Healthy Hair Affair event hosted by our Gamechanger Dr. Nina Ellis-Hervey. First, of all it was almost a 3 hour trip from Houston and we had a great time chatting on the way. The campus of SFA is absolutely beautiful. Born and raised in East Texas and I have been to Nacogdoches (oldest town in Texas). It’s sad that I have never been to the campus before. One of the best college campuses I’ve ever seen aesthetically.
Now to the event. It was held in the Twilight Room in the Student Center. The room was nice, big and cold, lol. But the goodies we got were soooo worth it.
Each of the ladies on the panel spoke about their natural hair journey. All journeys were insightful, informative and entertaining. Dr. Ellis also had a survey for the ladies who attended to fill out. She is doing a study on natural hair. The first of its kind in the country. Be on the look out for her report when she’s finished.
I spoke with a few of the ladies present and felt so old because they kept calling me ma’am. Ugh!!! I’m not that old. I’m not even 30 yet, lol. Anyway, they all said they were excited to attend. They were extremely attentive, asked questions and actively participated in the Q & A session.
I was so pleased that my home part of Texas showed up and showed out for the first healthy hair event of its kind. I absolutely enjoyed the event and was happy to see so many people show up and not really know what to expect.
What is the best hair show, hair event or hair festival you have attended?
